38 weeks was it!
I never got to show the watermelon picture to show how big the baby was, I think that would have been the fruit for 40 weeks. But I'm glad he came 11 days early because I wouldn't have wanted to push a bigger baby out!

38 weeks!
From babycenter:
Your baby has really plumped up. He weighs about 6.8 pounds and he's over 19 1/2 inches long (like a leek). He has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold his hand for the first time! His organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb. Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? If he's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If he's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time he's 9 months old.

37 weeks- only 21 days to go!
Or however many days this little guy decided he wants to stay inside...
From babycenter:
"Your baby is now considered full term, even though your due date is still three weeks away. If you go into labor now, his lungs will likely be mature enough to fully adjust to life outside the womb. He weighs 6 1/3 pounds and measures a bit over 19 inches, head to heel (like a stalk of Swiss chard). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches long."

No more office!
Well, technically I'm working from home a bit here and there, but last Friday was my last day in the office. My co-workers were so sweet and gave me a beautiful card (with the drawing from the last post) a wonderful gift, and breakfast! I already feel so much better today not having to deal with the commute to the office.
This week I'll be relaxing, but also looking into insurance and a pediatrician for the bambino. Fun stuff ;)
Here's another photo from the shoot with Bridgette:

36 weeks. whoa.
babycenter says:
Your baby is gaining about an ounce a day. He now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. He's shedding most of the downy hair that covered his body, as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that protected his skin during his nine-month amniotic bath. Next week, your baby will be considered full-term. Most likely he's in a head-down position, (he is!).

35 Weeks! We're getting close...
From baby center:
"Your baby doesn't have much room to maneuver now that he's over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew). Because it's so snug in your womb, he isn't likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times he kicks should remain about the same. His kidneys are fully developed now, and his liver can process some waste products. Most of his basic physical development is now complete – he'll spend the next few weeks putting on weight."

34 weeks today!
Here's what babycenter says: "Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. His fat layers – which he'll need to regulate his body temperature once he's born – are filling him out, making him rounder. His skin is also smoother than ever. His central nervous system is maturing and his lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies."
We had a really cool photo session this weekend with our friend Bridgette. I'll get the full size photos (with some touch-ups) in awhile but here's a sneak peak:

Finally feels like Fall
I had to wear a coat for the first time on Monday! And of course my coat can only button up so far...

33 weeks today!
From babycenter:
"This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood."

Baby shower #3!
My awesome friends Sally, Erin, Tippi, Marisa, and Ashley (in order of appearance below) gave me a shower on Sunday. There were 6 babies there too! So much fun. Here are a few pictures:
I didn't bring my camera so I'll post more photos if I get some more from people that did.

Baby furniture
I've been having a hard time selecting a crib and changing table. The reasons range from:
1. Wondering if I even really need a crib (seems like such a big bed for a tiny baby!) and it will be going in my room so it can't be anything too big.
2. Not wanting anything fancy like a lot of the cribs I've seen, although some of the modern ones look cool but they are mucho dinero.
3. Which leads into the last reason: not wanting to spend a lot on it since I'm not even not sure how often we will use it or for how long.
But I finally decided I did want/need both of these things as long as they could be minimal and relatively inexpensive. So after shopping around in stores and online, I settled on this Gulliver IKEA crib:
and this Gulliver IKEA changing table:
Now I just have to get a mattress, bedding, changing pad, and all that other stuff!

Week 32, 8 weeks to go!
From babycenter:
"By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, he'll gain a third to half of his birth weight during the next 7 weeks as he fattens up for survival outside the womb. He now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). His skin is becoming soft and smooth as he plumps up in preparation for birth."

31 weeks! And headed back to NYC...
It's been so great hanging with the parents and seeing all my family and friends in Seattle. I'm sad to leave, but work calls!
Here are a few photos from the party my parents gave me:
Thanks Mom & Dad- you're the best. Love you!

30 weeks!
Well, technically the beginning of my 30 weeks started yesterday. I'm in Seattle visiting the parents (yay!) and have been busy so I haven't had much computer time.
Here's what babycenter says about week 30:
" Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and he weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds him, but that volume will decrease as he gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. His eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after he's born, he'll keep his eyes closed for a good part of the day. When he does open them, he'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision – which means he can only make out objects a few inches from his face."
Hopefully the baby won't get my bad eyesight ;)

Starting week 29 today!
It seems like it's going so quickly now. And I'm so excited to go to Seattle next week!
From babycenter:
"Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day."

Paula, 9 months pregnant
While I'm waiting to get my newest photos up, I thought I'd share a couple of my mom when she was pregnant with me. I feel like being pregnant makes me appreciate my mother even more than I already do. Love you Mom!
They still have that guy fishing on a bridge...
And the owl.

28 weeks- 3rd trimester!
That means I have about 12 weeks to go if the little guy decides he wants to be born on his due date. 12 weeks seems like no time at all!
From babycenter.com:
"By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels. He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. He's also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
